This number alone can plunge us into an abyss of reflection on our relationship with time. While our times give the impression of continuous acceleration, technical and digital, a building whose construction began 800 years ago and spanned almost three centuries is something difficult to conceive of. It’s an idea of time that’s hard for our minds to grasp, a notion on the order of infinity.
